Now I'm told the Skybar isn't what it used to be in the cool stakes, but it is pretty spectacular.
The view is amazing, the people are still pretty and it can still be a bit difficult to get in.
Worth it, though, seriously: the view is gorgeous and the open-air cabanas and impromptu late-night dancing in the bar is all sorts of fun....more

If you really want to spot a celeb, or at least a black American Express card, try Bar Marmont.
As part of Chateau Marmont, home away from home to Hollywood's elite for decades, it prides itself on its discretion. Plus, it's bloody beautiful – all red lamplight, butterflies on the walls and gorgeous people wall to wall.
Not that it's relevant, but the toilet in the lobby of the actual hot...more
