On the west side of Fairfax Avenue, Melrose is dominated by fabulous designer boutiques, including my beloved Marc by Marc.
It carries the men's and women's lines as well as some of the bargainous special collection items that can be hard to find.
And if that isn't enough for you and you're feeling flush, the main collection Marc Jacobs store is directly opposite. Yay!...more

Love Betsey Johnson. Can't fit into Betsey Johnson but LOVE Betsey Johnson. Definitely pop in and check out her beautiful girlie designs. Hands up if you can't live without a polkadot puffball strapless mini-dress. I only see my hand. Put up your hand!...more

Fred Segal is a complete institution in LA.
It's also covered in grass. No, really: all the exterior walls. And the interior is like a labyrinth, so if you manage to get in, find something you like, buy it before David Bowie appears in Lycra leggings and tries to distract you with a crystal ball.
Also, the café here is legend so book ahead and stop in for breakfast or a mid-shop snack....more
